The Problem

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released figures for 2007 revealing that there had been 12,998 fatalities in alcohol-related traffic accidents.

While drivers with blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) that are over the legal limit are found in the majority of the fatalities due to alcohol-related crashes, even people with BACs below the legal limit are responsible for over 2000 deaths each year.
